The Walking Tour will give you an insight into the history of Berlin - under the Prussian kings, during Hitlers Third Reich and the Cold War. You will see the Berlin Wall and the former Death Strip, the site of Hitler's Bunker and the new bunker Excavations, Checkpoint Charlie, the Reichstag with its glass dome, Victory Column, Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz with Sony Centre, the twin cathedrals on Gendarmenplatz, Museum Island, Palast der Republik, Tv-Tower, Berliner Dom, Unter den Linden, Jewish Synagogue and many more sights.
Day 3: Potsdam walking city tour

It is easy to see why the palaces and parks of Potsdam were designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1990. Not only is the city incredibly picturesque, with its many palaces, lakes, manicured gardens, statues and water fountains dotted over hundreds of green acres, but it is brimming with an equally fascinating history Stroll around the Dutch Quarter, an ensemble of red-brick buildings that is unique in Europe. The infamous 'Soldier King', Frederick William I, (renowned for the giant men he collected for his showcase military regiments), had the houses built in the middle of the 18th century to accommodate Potsdam's new community of Dutch artisans. See the stunning Sanssouci Palace, favourite residence of Frederick the Great, which is set in beautiful parkland scattered with temples, churches and follies. After crossing the Glienicke 'spy swapping' Bridge we visit Cecilienhof, the manorial residence of Germany's last Crown Prince, which was used to host the Potsdam Conference in 1945. We describe the discussions that took place between Churchill, Truman and Stalin, which were to seal the fate of Cold War Europe for the next half century.
Day 4: The Cold War Berlin Walking Tour

After WWII Berlin went from being the capital city of Nazi Germany to being the pivotal city in the struggle to control war-torn Europe. Berlin became the frontier of the Cold War, where the two superpowers collided. Discover the divided city of Berlin, retrace the often ghost-like trail of the death strip and the Berlin Wall, coming upon some of the more intriguing fortifications of its border, from guard towers to tank traps. Walk along Bernauer Strasse, site of many remarkable escape attempts. Learn of successful and failed escapes in the face of a Border Command that would sooner follow the order of 'shoot to kill' than allow the heinous crime of 'flight from the Republic'. Discover the methods of the Stasi (East German State Security) and learn about the systems, devices and people that kept the entire East German population under surveillance for 40 years. Who were the key figures in the GDR leadership and where are they today? Get an extraordinary insight into what it meant to live in the GDR, the eastern bloc's most heavily policed state. What was it like to live "Behind the Wall"? "It is our duty to retain proof of this madness to guard against any possibility of its return." The Senator for Urban Development concerned that the Wall had been almost completely erased from the face of Berlin.
